On Oct. 17, students participated in the "Swap and Shop" event, an initiative aimed at promoting sustainable fashion. The event was hosted by the Sustainable Fashion Club, Cal Poly's Green Campus, and Her Campus

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., attendees brought gently used clothes to swap for new items, while student-run vintage stores and small businesses offered unique products for sale.

A member of the Green Campus that helped organize the event, Lilly Fulton, shared her enthusiasm: "We wanted to create a fun, eco-friendly way for students to refresh their wardrobes without contributing to fast fashion. It’s also a great opportunity to highlight student entrepreneurs."

The laid-back atmosphere, coupled with the diverse selection of clothing and accessories, attracted a vibrant crowd, fostering a sense of community and creativity. Many attendees expressed excitement over the range of vintage styles, which allowed them to explore fashion choices beyond the mainstream.

The event also featured small businesses owned by Cal Poly students, to promote local entrepreneurs. Laurel Card Co, one of the vendors at the event, sold custom-made watercolor cards during Swap N Shop.

The Swap and Shop event successfully combined environmental consciousness with entrepreneurship, leaving a lasting impression on those who attended. Students look forward to the next Swap N Shop event coming in the next few weeks.
